the Gambinos Story


Gambino’s was founded in 1949 in a small New Orleans neighborhood. Gambino’s roots and beginnings are in the bakery business, supplying New Orleanians with French Bread, Olive Salad, and Specialty Italian items for generations and providing families with their own traditions using the freshest and highest quality ingredients from Gambino’s. Our most popular and best-selling item is at the heart of what we do: Real New Orleans French Bread.

The key element to a successful Po-Boy is French Bread. Our bread is crisp on the outside with flaky, paper thin crust and a light airy inside. Our attention to detail ensures a consistent, quality product. Just because you aren’t in New Orleans doesn’t mean Gambino’s can’t bring renowned authentic French Bread to you.

Our muffuletta sandwich was originally created in New Orleans and is now recognized nationally. The word muffuletta derives from an old Sicilian word “muffa” which describes a large, round, dense bread covered with sesame seeds that is then stuffed with assorted meats and cheese. The sandwich also contains the delectable Gambino’s Italian Olive Salad, without which the ideal sandwich is not complete.

In addition to our Italian olive salads, Gambino’s offers a range of gourmet stuffed olive products, perfect for martinis, antipastos, salads, or pizzas. Our Spicy Cajun Pickled vegetables will complement the perfect Bloody Mary, extend your bar line, or be the perfect addition to your charcuterie board.
